Is AITEC a cohort program or do students have to enroll in a teacher preparation program on campus?

One of AITEC (American Indian Teacher Education Collaboration) initiative is to assist students with enrollment into the College of Education by assisting students with admissions, transfers and scholarship opportunities. AITEC is not a program of student cohorts.

Will the program offer distance learning?

Yes, each department within the College of Education has different Distance Learning elements.

What are the requirements for admission?

The admissions process is the same for all students.
Apply to the University of Utah first. https://admissions.utah.edu/ ;
If you are a transfer student go to the University Transfer Center https://transfer.utah.edu/ ;
then apply to the College of Education department of choice.

Will the program require an emphasis in Navajo language and/or culture?

No this is not a requirement for graduation. The College of Education is a member of the NNTEC (Navajo Nation Teacher Education Consortium http://www.navajonationdode.org/NNTEC_1.aspx). We work collaboratively with all students on any cultural needs.

When will the program accept applications?

Each department within the College of Education has a different application process. It is important to contact the department and work with the Academic Advisor.

Can a student be dually enrolled?

As an Undergraduate you can have dual majors, at the Graduate level you are listed with one major with a minor. https://gradschool.utah.edu/

As a transfer student how can I transfer my other college credits?

All transfer student should go through the University Transfer Center https://transfer.utah.edu/
