MISSION

The College of Education at the University of Utah is dedicated to creating pathways for American Indians that lead to educational excellence in a variety of education fields. Four departments and the Urban Institute for Teacher Education, offer preparation for teachers, leaders, counselors, and educational researchers.

The Urban Institute for Teacher Education (UITE) prepares educators to serve urban students and educational communities in all their rich diversity. The department of Education, Culture and Society is one of the top social foundation programs in the country. It is committed to the study and pursuit of social justice in education. The department of Education Leadership and Policy prepares researchers, leaders, and policy makers in PK-20 settings. The department of Educational Psychology emphasizes the application of behavioral sciences to education and psychological processes. The department of Special Education prepares special education teacher candidates and general teacher candidates to work with people with disabilities.
