Andrea J. Cox currently serves as the Utah Scholars Program Coordinator within the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) for the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) and has held this position for two years. A year previous to her current position she served as the Utah Scholars Program Assistant within USHE. She has also held positions at Brigham Young University Independent Study and briefly at Liberty Academy Charter School as a secondary English teacher.

Andrea graduated from the University of Utah in 2007 with a Bachelor's in English Teaching/French minor, during which time she participated in a study abroad program in London, England. She went on to earn her Master's in Public Administration with an emphasis in Higher Education from the University of Utah in 2011. Her Major Research Paper focused on the higher education admissions implications of 2010 legislation addressing affirmative action policies in Utah. As a first generation college student from rural Utah, her interests lie in helping disadvantaged students understand the academic preparation needed to succeed in post-secondary education and the workforce; particularly as it pertains to women in higher education. Her future plans include getting a PH.D in Educational Leadership and Policy, as she hopes to continue her work in higher education through practice and research.
