Barry L. Newbold

Dr. Barry L. Newbold was Superintendent of Schools for Jordan School District, a suburban
                        district of nearly 50,000 students and over 4,500 employees located in the southwestern
                        part of the Salt Lake valley. His over 34 years in education spanned a diverse spectrum
                        including elementary teacher, reading and math specialist, principal, director of
                        evaluation and program services as well as superintendent of schools. In addition,
                        he has taught at the college and university level. Dr. Newbold completed his undergraduate
                        degree at the University of Utah. He holds a Master's degree from Westminster College,
                        and Educational Specialist and Doctorate degrees from Brigham Young University. A
                        product of Jordan District schools, Dr. Newbold is a noted leader in curriculum planning
                        and school administration. He is a certified strategic planner and was directly involved
                        in establishing long-term goals and vision for his district.
Dr. Newbold has an extensive background in year-round education, use of student test data, group-consensus building and decision-making. He was instrumental in developing new systems for evaluating educators, administrators, and staff which other districts have adopted.
