James Martin

Alumnus, M.Ed. Teaching & Learning; EdD Educational Leadership & Policy

Dr. James Martin earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy in 2008. He served as principal of Edison Elementary in Salt Lake for four years and is the current principal of Mountain View Elementary. James continues to conduct research on topics of interest, namely how culturally-relevant practices are enacted at the school organization and classroom levels. James created and leads a group of Salt Lake administrators called Leaders for Equity and Social Justice.

Prior to his administrative experience, James taught a combination of kindergarten, first, fourth, and fifth grades. James is the Artistic Director of Wasatch Theatre Company (WTC), a regional theatre organization that performs at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. WTC was founded in 1997 and has been awarded by local newspapers for outstanding work.

In his spare time, James loves to play tennis, read, and spend time with friends and family. James loves his job and the families he gets to work with!
