Milton Bennion

Milton Bennion served as Dean of the University of Utah's College of Education from 1913 to 1941, after joining the faculty in 1901 as a professor of philosophy. As education's longest serving Dean, he had an extraordinary influence on the college's early development. Milton Bennion Hall was dedicated in his honor in 1960.

During his long and distinguished career, Dean Bennion was well known for his Socratic teaching style and his keen interest in personal and social ethics and character education. From 1920–26 he served as Chairman of the National Council on Character Education. Milton and his wife, Cora Lindsay, raised ten children, many of whom became prominent educators, as did several of their grandchildren.
