Udita Gupta, Associate Professor (Career Line), Urban Institute for Teacher Education
(UITE), has been awarded the 2025 Public Service Professor Award from the Office of Undergraduate Studies. The university-wide award was designed
to help faculty deepen relationships with community partners and enhance community-engaged
learning experiences for students.
Dr. Gupta's past work with UITE-Connect, which creates support for early career teachers, demonstrates her longstanding commitment to building community among educators. The Public Service Professor Award will allow her to further this work through establishing Community Engaged Teaching and Learning Labs (CETLL) for both mentor teachers and their student teachers in public schools in Utah.
The program features monthly professional development sessions where participants collaborate with faculty and community members to incorporate cultural knowledge into curriculum design and classrooms, ultimately bolstering students' sense of belonging and strengthening community connections.
