Doctoral Student in Special Education Selected for U.S. Department of Education Internship

Amy QueryWe are thrilled to share that doctoral student Amy Query has been selected for a competitive summer internship through the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) at the U.S. Department of Education. This internship gives great opportunities for doctoral scholars to gain hands-on experience in federal education policy, administration, and research-to-practice initiatives.

As part of the program, Query will work closely with mentors, contribute to projects that support students with sensory disabilities, and connect with professionals in the field. This experience will allow her to expand her knowledge and bring new insights back to her work in special education.

"I applied for this grant because I am dedicated to advancing educational opportunities and outcomes for students with sensory disabilities," Query said. "This opportunity allows me to strengthen my skills in grant writing and contribute to initiatives that expand access and support for this population."

Query has dedicated her career to supporting students with sensory disabilities and mentoring future educators. She earned her B.A. in Deaf Studies and her M.Ed. in Special Education, where she also received endorsements in Deafblind and Deaf and Hard of Hearing education. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the College of Education, Query has worked for over a decade as a teacher of students who are deafblind, following her earlier role as an intervener. For the past six years, she has been teaching field studies and student teaching courses, sharing her expertise and passion with aspiring educators.

Query’s commitment to her students is truly inspiring. She finds deep fulfillment in helping students who are deafblind develop their communication skills and independence, and she is passionate about improving education for students with sensory disabilities. This internship is a well-deserved recognition of her dedication, and we are so excited to see where this journey takes her.

Congratulations to the future Dr. Query! We look forward to following your experience and all that you will accomplish.
