Dr. J. Matt Jameson and Dr. John McDonnell in the Department of Special Education were awarded a $149,000 grant from the Utah State Office of Education for the University of Utah Project to Alleviate Critical Educator Shortages in Severe Disabilities (ACES-SD). The project is designed to address the critical shortage of highly-qualified special education teachers for students with severe disabilities in urban, rural, and remote areas in Utah. During the project period, ACES-SD will deliver a comprehensive licensure program in severe disabilities to 5 graduate and 5 undergraduate candidates across ten cooperating urban and rural Utah school districts.
