Judie Lyon

Dr. Lyon has been involved in higher education for more than 40 years, working in two multi-college community college systems, including the second largest; a public state university; and a large, multi-campus land grant research university. In these institutions, she served in a variety of academic and leadership roles including faculty member, department chair, academic advisor, director of computer services, senior planning analyst, assistant dean for budget planning, executive assistant to the president and vice president for planning and development. She was on the Board and served as President of the Board of EDUCOM, a professional organization representing the Chief Information officers of over 1200 colleges and universities.

In the corporate environment, Dr. Lyon was an executive for three software companies and two professional consulting firms, including Coopers & Lybrand, where she was a managing associate. She has provided management consulting services to numerous public and private higher education institutions throughout the country; for example, Harvard University, the California State University, Brigham Young University, Case Western Reserve University, The Nevada System of Higher Education, and Thunderbird Global School of Management. She also was a co-founder of two start-up companies, one of which became a market leader.

Her areas of expertise are in strategic planning; organizational assessment, performance and redesign; information technology planning; change management; project management; and integrated marketing and communications. She has presented at over 30 national professional conferences and published articles and a monograph in the field of information technology in higher education. Most recently, she and her husband, Jim Lyon, co-authored the book, Client Whisperers. And it all began with teaching fifth and sixth grades in the Granite School District in Salt Lake City, Utah.
