UITE
Supported by the Sorensen Legacy Foundation and in cooperation with the Elizabeth Academy, UITE created a website to aid educators in practices based on Montessori principles.
The Urban Institute for Teacher Education offers a wide variety of professional development opportunities to Utah area educators.
Student Teacher placements
UITE places pre-service teacher candidates in Salt Lake, Granite and Murray school districts.
Stegner Young Scholars Institute
The Stegner Young Scholars Writing Institute (Stegner Writing Institute) celebrates eight years in partnership between the College of Education-Urban Institute for Teacher Education (COE-UITE) and the Salt Lake City School District (SLCSD) with Co-Directors, Monica Ferguson and Laura Scarpulla. This annual program invites 60 secondary students and 12-15 English Language Arts teachers to two-weeks of immersion in daily 4-hour writing workshops followed by afternoon professional development for teachers. The inspiration for participants is influenced by the life and literary legacy of Wallace Stegner.

Positive Psychology Certificate
This undergraduate certificate program is a minimum of 20 credit hours and will focus primarily on applying positive psychology to individual behavior, relationships, career or education.

The Educational Assessment and Student Support Clinic serves children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
We Are Rose Park is a school-university partnership between Rose Park Elementary School and the University of Utah’s Department of Educational Psychology.
University of Utah Reading Clinic
UURC receives GLAD Grant for literacy training work in BotswanaThe University of Utah Reading Clinic (UURC), Stepping Stones International (SSI) and the Hinckley Institute have partnered together, offering a unique opportunity to travel to Botswana, Africa.
The University of Utah Reading Clinic (UURC) provides assessment and intervention for struggling readers at its Murray, Utah location and statewide via video conferencing.

The ECS Department is expanding its offerings to meet the needs of local school districts by offering an English as a Second Language Endorsement. Continuation of the program leads to a Master's degree.
